A competition entry for an exemplar housing type. The scheme proposed
prefabricated concrete rectangular master modules with good thermal and acoustic mass. Bolted to the side of the master modules are prefabricated sub pod modules fully finished for baths, showers and feature spaces to main rooms. The sub pods are surrounded in crushed concrete for sound insulation and externally faced with gabion (steel mesh) blocks filled with local stone. Modules can be adjusted to suit customer choice using a variety of sub pods. Sub pods can be curved or square. The modules are delivered to site, finished both externally and internally, and stacked on site. External finishes will depend on location. Modules can be laid straight or curved to suit different sites.
