A single storey rear extension to an existing Edwardian brick building, in place of some unsightly prefab units which were uneconomical to maintain and expensive in their heating costs. Built to a tight budget the work comprised new classrooms, a dining space and a new kitchen within the existing building. By using simple construction of brick cavity walls, large timber columns, steel/timber flitches and clerestorey windows the result provides airy interior spaces.
